A major wayside stop on the Puy Road, Conques leads you in the footsteps of pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela .

The village, which has retained its mediaeval streets, is centred on the church of the Sainte-Foy abbey. This masterpiece of Romanesque art is adorned with a remarkable carved tympanum depicting the Last Judgement. You can also admire the stained glass works by contemporary artist Pierre Soulages, installed in 1994.

The rich history of this village and its location on a major route to Santiago de Compostela make Conques highly distinguished in several ways. The site is listed on the World Heritage of Humanity register by UNESCO. It also boasts the titles "Grand Site de France" and "Grand Site de Midi-Pyrénées" and is classed among the "most beautiful villages in France".
