10-12 place de la Cité, 12000 Rodez
Take a stroll from square to square, making your way along the pedestrian-only streets and make some fine discoveries. A historic area where medieval residences stand side by side with Renaissance-style houses.
In Rodez, the market town and the town centre have grown up together since the Middle Ages.
Once under the jurisdiction of a bishop, the town centre developed around Notre-Dame Cathedral and the episcopal palace (17th century), recognisable through its brick façade, its large, double flight of stairs and fortified terraces.
Visitors can see many medieval buildings, such as Guitard house (also known as the English House, 14th century), Benoît house (15th century) or the canonical house (16th century).
The market town was part of the estates of the Earl of Rodez and still contains some fine 16th century residences: the "Armagnac" house, Annunciation house and the Hôtel de Jouéry (now the Fenaille Museum).

These buildings with a Renaissance decor bear witness to the wealth of the merchant families who made their fortunes at the Rodez fairs.
Take a welcome break and enjoy all the charm of this very special place.

To make sure you dont miss out on anything, a free visitor's map is available from the tourist office.
