Opera - The School of Mozart Lovers - live broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera in New York

At the end of the eighteenth century, in a Naples café, two brothers, sure of teh devotion of their fiancées, bet on their loyalty. Mozart performed by singers of the glamourous “New Wave” — simply sublime!

Two young soldiers, Ferrando and Guglielmo, are engaged to two sisters, Fiordigili and Dorabella. They are challenged by the cynical Don Alfonso, a single old man. He bets a hundred sequins that he will manage to prove the infidelity of their beautiful women, as inherent in their sex. Guglielmo and Ferrando, agreeing to his game, pretend to leave the regiment to return in disguise, each to woo the bride of the other. Jokes and farce come thick and fast in this brilliantly comic opera. The elegant and dynamic production features Susanna Phillips, and Isabel Leonard in the role of Fiordiligi and Dorabella, presented by Vogue USA as the most “glamorous” divas. They are accompanied by Matthew Polenzani and Rodion Pogosov as the daring Ferrando and Guglielmo. Danielle de Niese plays the feisty maid Despina.

Directed by Lesley Koenig.

Susanna Philips (Fiordiligi), Isabel Leonard (Dorabella), Danielle de Niese (Despina), Matthew Polenzani (Ferrando), Rodion Pogosov (Guglielmo), Maurizio Muraro (Don Alfonso).
